Nelda Ruth (Fry) Jenkins

Funeral Services for Nelda Ruth (Fry) Jenkins, 81, of Nacogdoches, TX will be held Wednesday February 24th at 2:00 pm at the Farmers Funeral Home Chapel in Silsbee, TX with Rev. Jimmy Boykin officiating (wearing masks appreciated). Viewing will be at 1:00 pm before the service. Graveside committal will be held at Frank's Branch Cemetery in Fred, TX.

Nelda Ruth (Fry) Jenkins was born February 11th, 1940 in Beaumont, TX to the late Charles Edwin and Stella (Housley) Fry. The Lord called her home Sunday, February 21st, 2021.

She had given her heart and life to Jesus on July 15th, 1955 at a revival at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. She was currently a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church in Lufkin, TX. She had such a giving spirit and would help out anyone in need. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family meant the world to her and she loved and enjoyed laughing and spending time with them. She loved traveling, especially to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado and took many adventures in their RV with her husband, family and friends.

She was a long-time resident of Fred, TX where she was co-owners with her husband, Robert E. Jenkins, Sr., of Fred Grocery for 31 years. They were active members of Mt. Olivet, Baptist Church. She later moved to the Lufkin / Nacogdoches area to be close to her sons, Bob & Mark. She was a dedicated caregiver to her husband until his passing in 2002. They had celebrated 43 years of marriage. She then moved in with her son, Mark, his wife Melissa and daughter Megan who loved and cared for her. She will be greatly missed by many, but is now in the presence of her Savior.

Survivors include her son & daughter-in-law, Robert (Bob) & Brenda Jenkins of Lufkin, TX, son & daughter-in-law Mark & Melissa Jenkins of Nacogdoches, TX; grandchildren, Janna Jenkins of Lufkin, TX, Jordan Jenkins of Dallas, TX, Matthew & wife Alyssa Jenkins of Pasadena, TX, Megan Jenkins of Fort Worth, TX; great grandchildren, Levi Jenkins of Fort Campbell, KY and Brayden Tibbetts of Pasadena, TX; sisters, Shirley Spurlock of Fred, TX and Juanita and husband Jack Edgar of El Paso, TX; brother, Don and wife Linda Fry of Warren, TX; and many nieces and nephews.

Nelda was preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Stella Fry; husband, Robert Jenkins, Sr.; sisters, Lela Harwell, Gladys Nowell, Opal Droptina, Helen Goza, Hazel Sharpton, Royal Hockingsmith, Virgina Fry, Christine Hamilton and Joe Ellen Pilling; brothers, Roy Fry, Charles Fry and twin brothers at birth.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Jenkins, Jordan Jenkins, Bryant Spurlock, Terry Don Fry, Roger Hamilton and Gary Holland.
