Norma Jean Parker Bankston, 71, of Vidor, Texas passed away Wednesday January 17, 2024. She was born September 27, 1952 in DeQuincy, Louisiana to the late Hardy Parker and Ethel Gilland Parker.
Norma loved to attend the Calvary Church in Ragley Louisiana when she would visit home. She was a former member of the TOPS group 1449 in Silsbee. Norma had various hobbies, such as swimming, reading mystery novels, shopping, collecting recipes and kitchen gadgets, cooking, and spending time with her life long best friend Nancy Scott. Norma worked for a call center in Beaumont for many years. Once she retired from the call center, she became an in-home sitter. She was a happy person who never met a stranger and always looked at the brighter side of every situation. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Steve and Tom Parker.
Norma is survived by her former husband, Kerry Bankston; sister, Lucille Alston of San Antonio; brother, Loyd Parker and wife Diana of Dequincy; best friends, Nancy Scott and Betty Havens; nieces, Teri Parker, Tonya Parker; nephews, Todd Parker, Clifford Alston, Brett Alston; and a host of other family members and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mill Creek Nursing Home and Olive Branch Hospice for all the care they gave.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made to Calvary Pentecostal Church in Ragley, Louisiana.
