Oliver Leston Gilmore

Oliver L. Gilmore (1929-2020) went home to see the Lord July 1, 2020 in Wharton, Texas at the age of ninety-one. He was born January 1, 1929 in Fred, Texas to John Henry and Ida Gilmore. At the age of eighteen, he was hired by Continental Can Company in Houston, Texas. Three years later, on January 7, 1951, he married his sweetheart and wife of sixty years, Alta Ruth Gilmore. He then went on to work for Continental Can Company for forty-two years. Both a testament to his loyal and hardworking nature. Upon retirement, he enjoyed running his own lawn mowing business, spending time with family and friends, and being an active member in his church. He is survived by his two children Dean and Shirley. His six grandchildren Anthony, Regina, Ryan, John, Scott, and Angel. His eight great-grandchildren Isabelle, Madeline, Samuel, Zachary, Noah, Easton, Saul, and Cullen. Oliver L. Gilmore (Papa) was truly loved and will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may also be sent to Peace Tabernacle United at 1416 N Alabama Rd, Wharton, TX 77488.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 11:00am at Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred, Texas.
