Peggy Mouton was a beloved member of her community, residing in Lumberton, Texas, from 1957 to 2006, Groves, Texas, from 2006 to 2019, and Silsbee, Texas, from 2019 until her passing. She was first married to Al Mouton on May 27, 1951, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Beaumont, Texas, and later married Allan Dearing on April 20, 2006, at Woodcrest Methodist Church in Lumberton, Texas.
Peggy worked as a bookkeeper and secretary, balancing her professional life with her role as a dedicated homemaker. Her talents were shared with employers such as Gem Jewelry and Beaumont Frame & Front-End Inc., but her greatest pride was her family. She was actively involved in Infant Jesus Catholic Church, where her faith guided her throughout her life. In addition, she participated in annual bible studies across Methodist and Baptist communities, always eager to deepen her faith in God through her relationship with Jesus Christ. Her greatest joy came from spending time with family, whether dressing up for every holiday, coordinating head-to-toe outfits daily, riding jet skis in the Gulf of Mexico, or tent camping in the Texas heat. She was adventurous and down for anything as long as it was shared with her loved ones. From road trips to California to cruises to Alaska, every experience was cherished. Among her favorite memories were building her first and forever home with her first husband, Al, actively participating in the Infant Jesus Catholic Church, and continuing the annual tradition of making popcorn balls and watching The Wizard of Oz by the fireplace with her family. Peggy believed in loving purely, and to know her was to be loved by her. Everyone who entered her life felt like family, and her greatest treasure was her legacy of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild who she cherished dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fritz and Azemae Walz; her first husband, Al Mouton; her second husband, Allan Dearing; her sister, Freddie Taylor; and her daughter, Karla Bayless. She is survived by her children: Denise Core and husband Donnie, Al Mouton, Jeanne Getzelman and husband Hal, Fred Mouton and wife Sandy, Ricky Mouton and wife Vicki; as well as 25 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, with 2 more on the way.
Peggy's love, spirit, and devotion to God and family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
