Raymond “Ernest” Wilson, 87, of Evadale, TX, died peacefully on August 18, 2020. He was born on August 6, 1933 to Garland and Annie Wilson in Jasper, Texas. After moving to Beaumont as a boy, he graduated from Beaumont High School in 1953. After high school, Ernest served in the Air Force for four years. He met the love of his life, Juanice Kirkland, on a blind date in 1957. They wed on July 19, 1957 and were devoted to each other for 54 years until her death in 2011.
Ernest was a very talented carpenter and built everything from furniture to several homes. He built his parent’s house in Voth while he was still in high school. He and Juanice lived in the house they built in Evadale for over 50 years and raised their family there. Ernest was a devoted husband to Juanice and loving father to their three daughters; Kerrie, Diane and Tina.
Known as R.E. at work, he worked at Mobil Oil Refinery for over 37 years and retired from the Lube Plant.
Ernest was preceded in death by his wife, Juanice, and grandson, Montgomery Merrell.
Survivors include his daughters: Kerrie (Doug) Klima, Kountze, TX; Diane (Jude) Schexnyder, Atlanta, TX; and Christina Wilson of Pebble Beach, CA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Per Ernest’s wishes, a graveside service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. Holton-Grisgby Cemetery, Jasper, TX.
