Robert E. Ard

Robert E. Ard, 74, of Buna, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin, Texas. Born on August 20, 1950, in Tyler County, Texas, to Joe Ellis and Alvon Odesser (Carrell) Ard, Robert lived a life defined by kindness, faith, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.

Robert served as Head of Maintenance at Walnut Turn Apartments in Buna for many years, where his strong work ethic and commitment earned him the admiration of colleagues and residents. He found joy in bowling, hunting, and fishing, but his faith was the heart of his life. A devoted member and Deacon of Wiley Mae Community Church, Robert’s servant heart shone through in his readiness to help anyone in need. His caring spirit and warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughters, Lisa and Julie; his sons, Paul, Michael, Victor, and Jacob; his brother, Edward, and his wife, Terri; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Velinda; his brothers, Willie and Hubert; and his sister, Aline.

A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service to celebrate Robert’s life at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Wiley Mae Community Church in Silsbee. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Wiley Mae Community Church in Robert’s memory.
