Ronald Wayne Jenkins, 85, of Lumberton passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023. He was a Valentine baby born on February 14, 1938, in Rusk, Texas to the late William E. Jenkins and Curtis Vela Jenkins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Early and Curtis Jenkins; and brother, Kenneth Earl Jenkins.
He is survived by his wife, Charline; his three sons, Kenneth Jenkins and wife Deborah, Mike Jenkins and wife Nancy, Rodney (Possie) Jenkins and wife Paula; one daughter, Rhonda Derderian and husband Raymond; 9 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
Ronald (RW or Ron as he was known to many) was completely devoted to his family. And always put them first in his life. He married the love of his life, Charline Adkins at the very young age of sixteen. They were married for 68 years. Their love, passion, and companionship never wavered. They believed in commitment, hard work, and putting family first. This has developed a strong family that shares his values.
Ronald worked as a Sheet Metal Worker for many years. He started Metal Industries which is still owned and successfully operated by two sons, Mike & Rodney Jenkins.
He loved all the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and raising his garden, all of which was done with his family members at hand and a little competition always ensued. His children, grandchildren inherited his love for the outdoors. After he retired in 2000, he enjoyed many fun times at their Sam Rayburn Lake home with all their lake friends.
In the last couple weeks when it was said that “he had set a high bar for his children” his response was I always tried to. He said his proudest accomplishment was his four strong and independent children.
