Sarah Johnson Obituary

Sarah Grace (Ener) Johnson, 92, of Boyd, Texas, and formerly of New Caney, Texas, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at her home. She was born on Saturday, May 6, 1933, in Trinity, Texas, to James Elbert and Nellie Lee (Fairchild) Ener.

Grace was a longtime member of Security Baptist Church in Security, Texas. She worked various jobs, from being a waitress at Woolworth’s in Houston, to her last job at Texas Instruments. Sarah was an active lifetime member of the PTA and spent many hours volunteering at the schools in New Caney ISD throughout her daughter’s school years. She loved to go fishing and hunting, as well as traveling, and went all over the United States in the 18-wheeler with her husband. Sarah also loved to crochet and could make anything with or without a pattern. Some of her other favorite things were going to the senior center, playing bingo, and going to the game rooms, where she was treated like royalty. The folks at the game rooms would have her snacks and her diet 7 Up on hand when she came through the door and would help her with anything she needed. Her greatest pleasure came from being with her friends. We all know what a social butterfly she was, and her friends all loved her. Grace will be remembered for her cooking, especially the best little sugar cookies, pecan tarts, yeast rolls, and German chocolate cake. Her greatest joy though, was spending time with her family. She will forever remain a loving mother and mammaw.

She is survived by her son, George Wayne Johnson and his wife, Valerie; daughter, Jackie Louise Walker and her husband Roger; 6 grandsons, Rex Johnson and his wife, Reeci, Jimmy Johnson and his wife, Lauryn, Roger “Glyn” Walker Jr., Christopher Walker, Michael “Anthony” Walker and his wife, Angelina, and Nathan Walker; 14 great-grandchildren, Kelcie, Cora, Micah, Caleb, Kayla, Jayden, Caitlynn, Trayce, Elliannah, Princess, Lincoln, Lilia, Brightly, and Colt; 7 great-great-grandchildren, Kimber, Cadence, Kohen, Adelynn, Paitlyn, Evander, and Suade.

Sarah was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, George Lee Johnson; and 25 brothers and sisters.
