Shirley Rae Battaglia, 76, of Port Neches passed away Thursday, June 18, 2020, at her residence. She was born January 11, 1944, in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Guy and Una Power.
Shirley was a resident of Spurger and Port Acres most of her life until recently moving in with her granddaughter in Port Neches. She enjoyed playing bingo and slots, being outdoors watching the animals, and crocheting. She crocheted all of her daughters and granddaughters’ dolls. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who adored her family. Honest, genuine, and sweet are just a few words to describe Shirley. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Una Power; her beloved husband, Leon Battaglia; son, Rusty Whitney; grandson, Austin Whitney; and sisters, Juanita Rye and Billie Ann Jennings.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Sissy MLakar, Christine Richter and husband Bill, Jolene Zornoza and husband David; grandchildren, John MLakar and wife Jasmine, Sherry Assman and husband Ethan, Dani Dunklin and husband Michael Dunklin, Chad Whitney, Natalie (Noel) Zornoza, Sabrina Zornoza, Rebecca Whitney, Jacob Whitney; great-grandchildren, Aiden Mahan, Peyton Mahan, Jamenson MLakar, Cara Whitney, and Gracelyn Macomber; and a host of other family members and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Whitney, Michael Dunklin, John MLakar Jr., David Zornoza, David Martin, and Joul Ghorayeb.
Funeral services will be held at Farmer Funeral Home Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 10AM. A visitation will be held Tuesday night from 5-7PM. Burial will be held at Beech Creek Cemetery in Spurger.
Services are held under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home.
