Stanley James Austen, age 61, son of Charles and Betty Ann Austen was born in Burlington, Kansas on August 10, 1962. He peacefully passed away to be with the Lord on September 28, 2023.
Stan was an example of a man driven by his purpose and faith in God. He never met a stranger and his love for the lord and cheerful personality brought joy to all of those who had the opportunity to know him. He was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He would never hesitate to give his all to someone in need. Stan’s legacy will live on forever through the many stories and “Stan-isms” that everyone came to know and love him by.
Stan was a jack of all trades, experienced as a carpenter, machine operator, and a contractor- he could fix or build anything. However, his passion towards the end of his life was working as a mechanic. When he was not at work, his time was spent volunteering at church functions and spending time with his family. His wife, children and grandchildren were the highlight of his life.
Stanley was preceded in death by his father, Charles Austen and mother, Betty Ann Austen as well as his brother Joseph Austen and sister Helen Rose Austen.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Lou Austen of 17 years; his two daughters: Brooke Whitmire & Randy Lyle, Shannon Smallwood & husband Justin; and his three granddaughters: Kaylee Lyle, Madilyn Smallwood & Emmalyn Smallwood.
He is also survived by his 5 brothers; Charles Austen, Freddy Austen & wife Julie, Bill Austen & wife Dorothy, Matthew Austen & wife Karen; and Robert Austen; nephews and nieces; Charles Austen & wife Janie, Zachary Boyd, Tyler Hardwick, Cheyanne Hardwick, Amber Austen & Cody Austen.
A “Celebration of Life & Memorial Service” will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. following visitation from 1-2, at Pinecrest Baptist Church, 5660 FM1122, Silsbee, TX 77656. His family and friends are invited to share happy memories and celebrate Stan’s life in the way he would want to be remembered - as a loving and caring man who enjoyed life.
