Tom was born in Syracuse, NY on April 28, 1962 to George and Romona O'Kane. The family moved to Nassau Bay when he was a young boy. Tom had many friends throughout his life; he was loved by everyone and so enjoyed being outdoors. He worked as an EMT for 35 years and was also a volunteer firefighter on his days off. He absolutely loved helping people and rarely met anyone he didn't like. Tom was the type of person that would give you the shirt off his back.
On April 20, 2002 he married the love of his life Shari. They considered each other soulmates brought together later in life by God. He was a great father to his step children and raised Amber as if she were his daughter. Tom and Shari adopted their three grandchildren and he devoted his life to raising them as his own. He truly loved his children, family and God above all. This last year of his life he seriously started getting closer to God and rededicated his life to the Lord. He always told the story of his visit to Israel where he had the honor of being baptized in the River Jordan. There was never a doubt that he loved his Lord and Savior.
He is survived by his wife Shari O'Kane; his children, Ali, Nadia and Thomas O'Kane Jr; his step children, Timothy and Amber Delcambre; his sisters, Kathy, Madison and Patti O'Kane and Tammy Baker (Jeff Baker); his brothers-in-law, Glenn Delcambre (Brenda), Larry Delcambre (Kathy) and Daren Delcambre; sister-in-law, Mary Benson and 15 nieces and nephews.
