Tucson Calvert, 86, of Kountze, died Tuesday, October 21st, 2025 at his residence. He was born on Monday, July 3, 1939, in Joshua, Texas, to Virgil and Grace (Heine) Calvert.
Tucson retired after over 30 years as an insulator with Local 112 Insulators and Asbestos Workers in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He enjoyed hunting and doing anything outdoors. He will be especially remembered for his love of raising animals, especially chickens, goats, rabbits, and hogs. He will forever remain a loving father and Paw Paw. Tucson attended Crestwood Baptist Church in Lumberton, Texas for 42 years. During that time he served as the Head Usher for over 25 years. He always had a pocket full of peppermint candies, which he passed to all the children. He was lovingly known by them as “Mr. Tucson,The Candyman”.
Survivors include his sons, Marc Richardson, Andrew Richardson, Steve Calvert, and Wayne “Trey” Calvert and his wife, Hope; daughter, Stephanie Payne; grandchildren, Heather, Mallory, Ian, Tyler, Tori, Tamara, Sheena, Shannon, Taras, Thomas, Thalan, Joe, Morgan, Nate, Teddy, and Lia; two nieces, Terri, Suzanne; one nephew, Ronald; as well as 30 great-grandchildren.
Tucson was preceded in death by his parents; wife of over 45 years, Mary Calvert; daughter, Trina Simon; granddaughter, Noel; sisters, Suzanne, and DeWill; and his brother, Pete “Sonny” Calvert.
