Obituary

Velma Cooley Self went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 11, 2023. She was born August 3, 1940 in Saratoga, Texas to the late Robert and Angie Cooley.

She was a life-long resident of Silsbee. She retired from Silsbee Independent School District after serving as a cafeteria manager for 22 years. She attended Caneyhead Assembly of God Church for over 50 years serving 40 of those years as the church treasurer and was active in the women’s ministry.

Velma is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 47 years Joe Wayne Self; two brothers A.C Cooley and Elmer Cooley; two sisters Hazel Tyson and Nancy West.

Velma is Survived by her sister, Marie Smith; son Robert Wayne Self of Silsbee; daughter Rita Fay Self of Silsbee; one granddaughter Victoria Daniels and husband Bill of Nome; one grandson Randall Wayne Self and wife Nina of Silsbee; seven great grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
