Virgie M. Nelson, 77, of Silsbee, died April 23, 2024, at her residence. She was born January 22, 1947, in Fred, to Charley Lee and Dessie Ray (Freeman) Watts.
Virgie will be remembered for her love of bird watching, vintage TV shows, especially mysteries and crime, and traveling. Virgie loved her dogs, as much as she loved her family, and grandkids. She will forever remain a loving and feisty, wife, mother, and granny.
Survivors include her son, Billy Cain, of Silsbee; daughters, Lori Ard, and her fiancé, Ed Callaway, of Silsbee and Diane Cain, also of Silsbee; grandchildren, Travis Ard and Ratoshia Lee, both of Silsbee; great grandchildren, Dalton, Marshall, Isaiah Eli, Skylar Jace, Serenity Jean, Gracie Lynn and Hunter. Virgie will be especially missed by her faithful canine companions, Stoney, Reba and Shiloh.
Virgie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 23 years, Floyd “Cat” Nelson; brothers, Virgil, Robert and Willie Watts; and her sister, Odette Willis.
A gathering of Virgie’s family and friends will begin at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Farmer Funeral Home, 415 N. 4th Street, Silsbee. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 26, 2024, also at Farmer Funeral Home, with Rev. Robert Moore officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Cunningham Cemetery.
