Wilton Cheshire Obituary

Wilton Wayne Cheshire, age 77, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas, from complications of heart disease. Wayne was born on June 2,1947, in Silsbee, Texas, to parents, Milton Alfred Cheshire and Naomi Capps Cheshire.

He served honorably with the United States Navy for 4 years during the Vietnam Era. After his military service, he worked in industrial sales, owned his own industrial tools and machinery business, and ultimately became a purchasing agent, retiring from Oxbow- Port Arthur (formerly Great Lakes Carbon Corporation). While working and raising a family, he returned to Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, to complete a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences degree at age 49.

He had a passion for restoring classic cars, especially 55 and 57 Chevys. He also enjoyed fishing and boating. He was known to buy and sell many boats over the years. He subscribed to the belief that the two happiest days of a boat owner’s life are the day you buy the boat and the day you sell it.

While he had many interests and hobbies, his devotion was to his family.  He attended every activity that he was able to and was his family members #1 supporter. His family (and friends) knew they could go to him and count on him for anything. If you had a car problem, he was your first phone call. He instilled the same values in his family and to honor him, his family will carry on his legacy.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many roles in his congregation.

He is preceded in death by David Columbus Capps and Oma Lee Yielding (grandparents), Milton Alfred Cheshire & Naomi Capps (parents), David Cheshire (brother), Nanette Shafer (sister), and Beverly King (niece).

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years, Albre Patricia Hall Cheshire, his children- Jennifer (Greg) Shepherd, Jason (Cara) Cheshire, Sean Cheshire, Amber (Shane) Dupree, grandchildren- Spencer, Jaimen, Bryson, and Elijah Shepherd, Alexie (Jordon) Granato, Ashtyn and Avery Cheshire, Emma Cheshire, Savanna, Caroline, Isaac, Micah, and Seth Dupree, great grandchildren- Hudson, Heath, and Halston Granato, sister- Oma (George) Dempsey, sister-in-law- Madolyn Cheshire, brother-in-law- Ronald Hall, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (8622 FM-418) in Silsbee, Texas, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with funeral following at 2:00 pm.

The family would like to thank the staff at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital for their loving care and Dr. Timothy Colgan for his care as his cardiologist for over 30 years.
